Connect WhatsApp

Link your WhatsApp number to your EcomClaw agent. Chat with your AI assistant directly from WhatsApp alongside Telegram.

Before you start

  • You need a dedicated phone number for the bot. This number will be used as the bot’s identity on WhatsApp.
  • The phone number must have WhatsApp installed and be ready to scan a QR code.
  • WhatsApp sessions expire after approximately 14 days of inactivity. If the bot disconnects, you can reconnect by scanning a new QR code.

Step 1 — Tell your agent to connect WhatsApp

  1. Open your EcomClaw bot on Telegram.
  2. Say “connect WhatsApp” (or “setup WhatsApp”, “link WhatsApp”).
  3. The agent will start the linking process and generate a QR code.

Step 2 — Scan the QR code

  1. Open WhatsApp on your phone.
  2. Go to Settings Linked Devices Link a Device.
  3. Scan the QR code your agent sent on Telegram.
  4. The QR code expires after 2 minutes. If it expires, just ask the agent to try again.

Step 3 — Confirm the connection

  1. Once scanned, the agent will confirm the connection and automatically configure the WhatsApp gateway.
  2. You can verify the status at any time by asking your agent “WhatsApp status”.

Controlling who can message the bot

By default, the bot uses a pairing policy — new contacts can send a pairing request to start chatting. You can restrict access to specific phone numbers by telling your agent which numbers to allow.

Phone numbers must be in international format (e.g. +15551234567).

Reconnecting

If WhatsApp disconnects (e.g. after 14 days of inactivity or manually unlinking the device), just tell your agent “WhatsApp disconnected” or “reconnect WhatsApp”. It will generate a fresh QR code for you to scan.

Good to know: WhatsApp cannot send files directly through the bot. As a workaround, the agent can upload files to Google Drive and share the link with you.
